SPLICE day 12 (the day we needed the kleenex )

so, i woke up early to go on a 5:30 a.m. hike up to the reservoirs. yes…you read right. i went hiking at 5:30 this morning. who AM i?

if you know me at all, you know this is not normal, but today was such a wonderful start to the day. being in God’s creation….quiet…listening to birds chirp and fish jump…it was all really worshipful. of course, the REAL reason i got up early is because of the chance to see a bear! the day before people saw it on that hike, but no dice today. oh well.

here are some pics:

in class (which due to amazing hiking, weather and fellowship, i sometimes forget is the reaosn i’m here :)-haha), we discussed grief and loss. it was a really heavy day today. lots of tears…lots of crying out…lots of speaking God’s word…lots of lamenting…did i mention lots of tears? it was heavy. but so, so good. my heart broke to hear classmates lament over loss…and was once again reminded at how a move into missions requires great sacrifice. i’m not focused on the loss, but it is healthy to acknowledge, work through and ultimately surrender it with open hands. that does not come without tears though.

all in all—good day. hard day, but really good.

  1. 5:30am…WHAT! Did it make you want to go to bed at 8pm? Do you understand me a little better now:-)

    • actually…stayed up until 11…i think i’m just energized by being outside :). but yes…i am understanding the appeal of a early morning for sure! 🙂
